Pompom Yarn - Baby Blue
This yarn is spun on a drop spindle by highly skilled artisans from central Chile. The pom poms are directly spun/knotted into the yarn, which is then hand-dyed in small batches to create a kaleidoscope of colour. The women work at home, producing woollen goods to supplement their family income.
- 50g / 1.8oz
- meterage (approx): 18-20m / 60 - 66'
- 100% sheeps wool
Each pompom is approximately 2cm in diameter and they are spaced roughly 20cm apart along the yarn. The yarn itself is approximately DK/Light Worsted weight.
This is a truly rustic handspun yarn, so please expect some variations in thickness and colour. I believe that this enhances the unique beauty and texture of this hand produced item.
You can knit, crochet or weave with this yarn. Just add a few rows to a hat, scarf or cowl, or crochet them onto the edge of a shawl, cushion or blanket to add a touch of fun to whatever you are making.
Easy to knit with, you knit as normal, and when you come to a pompom simply push it to the front of your knitting.
The quantity supplied is generally sufficient to edge a shawl or small (baby) blanket. More than enough to adorn a hat or scarf, or to edge a cushion.
The pompoms also make a great garland to decorate your home. Hang up straight, or crochet into a chain. When crocheted, each skein will make a garland approximately 7 metres long.
I try very hard to represent colour accurately, but please bear in mind that your monitor may show colours differently to mine.
