Vintage Aguayo Earrings - Green
These exquisite earrings have been made by Marcela and Marina, jewellery design sisters from Argentina. Keen to preserve the textile heritage of Andean weavers from the north west of Argentina, they incorporate discarded textile scraps into this stunning statement jewellery. These hand woven textiles, known as aguayos, are traditionally used by women for carrying their babies on their back.
The earrings are constructed in distressed alpaca silver*, between which they have folded pieces of vintage aguayo textile. Every earring is therefore unique.
Earring dimensions:
- Width: 23mm
- Total drop (including ear hoop): 56mm
The earring hoop is made from surgical steel.
*Please note - alpaca silver does not contain silver, but is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. Although the earring hoops are made from surgical steel, the earrings themselves could occasionally touch the skin and will therefore not be suitable for anyone with a sensitivity to nickel.
